PeriPage A6 is a portable, battery-powered printer that is fun and useful, and, dare I say, cute? Because, when you look closely, it looks like a bear’s face from the front. (Maybe they should call it BeariPage?)
It usually sells for up to $70, but now you can buy PeriPage A6 at Walmart for $35. It has eight interesting colors for you to choose from.
A6 is a thermal printer, which means it does not use ink. Instead, it is printed on special paper rolls. You will get a basic white roll to help you get started, but there are many other options: pastel colors, stickers/labels, etc. (For example, this is a 9-volume various packaging, priced at $14.)
It’s hard to believe that such a small thing can do what it does, but the A6 measures approximately 3.1 x 3.1 x 1.7 inches and weighs less than half a pound. It can actually fit into a jacket pocket, let alone a purse or backpack.
In that small frame there is not only a printing device and a roll of paper, but also a rechargeable battery. PeriPage did not specify how much printing can be done on a single charge, but considering that it is a 1,000 mAh battery, my half-degree is estimated to be “a lot”.
The printer is paired with your phone via Bluetooth (but you can also plug it into a Windows PC); an application allows you to choose what you want to print. This can be anything, from simple text to handwritten notes/pictures to photos on the phone.
I have used A6 a lot and like it very much, although there are some caveats to note. First of all, the above application is not super intuitive; it takes a little practice to master it. Second, because the printer resolution is only 200 dpi, don’t expect sharp images. Photos tend to look very pixelated-they are good in the first place, but they are not what you want to put in the album.
These nits aside, this is a very good deal at a price of $35. I think this is a particularly good gift for children because it is fun to play and the extra paper rolls are cheap.
