National Day of the People’s Republic of China

The national day of the people’s Republic of China is also known as “ShiYi“, “National Day”, “National Day”, “China National Day” and “National Day Golden Week”. The Central People’s Government declares that since 1949, October 1 of each year, the day when the people’s Republic of China is proclaimed, is the national day.

The national day of the people’s Republic of China is a symbol of the country. It appeared with the founding of new China and has become particularly important. It has become a symbol of an independent country and reflects China’s state system and regime. National Day is a new and national festival form, which carries the function of reflecting the cohesion of our country and nation. At the same time, the large-scale celebrations on the National Day are also the concrete embodiment of the government’s mobilization and appeal. The four basic characteristics of National Day celebrations are to show national strength, enhance national confidence, reflect cohesion and give full play to appeal.

On October 1, 1949, the founding ceremony of the Central People’s Government of the people’s Republic of China, namely the founding ceremony, was grandly held in Tiananmen Square, Beijing.

“Mr. Ma Xulun, who first proposed ‘National Day’.”

On October 9, 1949, the first National Committee of the Chinese people’s Political Consultative Conference held its first meeting. Member Xu Guangping made a speech: “member Ma Xulun asked for leave and couldn’t come. He asked me to say that the founding of the people’s Republic of China should have a national day, so I hope this Council will decide to designate October 1 as the national day.” member Lin Boqu also made a secondment and asked for discussion and decision. On the same day, the meeting passed the proposal to request the government to explicitly designate October 1 as the national day of the people’s Republic of China to replace the old national day on October 10, and sent it to the Central People’s government for adoption and implementation.

On December 2, 1949, the resolution adopted at the fourth meeting of the Central People’s Government Committee pointed out: “the Central People’s Government Committee declares that since 1950, October 1 of each year, the great day of the founding of the people’s Republic of China, is the national day of the people’s Republic of China.”

This is the origin of determining “October 1″ as the “birthday” of the people’s Republic of China, that is, the “National Day”.

Since 1950, October 1 has become a grand festival celebrated by the people of all ethnic groups in China.
